Four of the WOMEN'STEC 's staff and one student are running the relay as part of Belfast City Marathon on 5th May 2008. The inspiration that forced the ladies out on the road is to raise money for the Neo-Natal Unit at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Unit.
Patricia Fleming, the team captain has a personal association with the Neo-Natal unit as her identical twin girls were born 12 weeks premature and spent 11 weeks in the unit.
The services rendered at the unit by the medical staff is second to none, and the emotional support they provide families with a child or in many cases children in their care make the time there very special and unique.
Eva and Lily, now 3 years old, were only 1lb 14oz and 2lbs 5oz when they were born. Patricia can now look back and laugh at how family and friends called Lily 'the big'. But on a serious note Patricia knows the health of her two beautiful daughters is down to the expert care and knowledge of the staff of the Neo-Natal Unit.
Patricia would like to thank her colleagues for their support and hard work in training for the marathon and wish them good luck on the day.
