Anne McVickerAnne McVicker
Chief Executive


Anne has been Chief Executive of WOMEN'STEC since late 1999.

Anne has worked in the community sector since returning home in1984 after spending five years studying law at Manchester and London universities.

Through her trade union Unison, Anne is an ICTU representative on the Belfast Local Strategic Partnership since its establishment in 1996.

In North Belfast, Anne is a Director of the North Belfast Partnership as well as a member of PME, the Urban II initiative. Anne is also a founder member and Director of Women's Support Network.

Sarah Greene

Sarah Greene
Finance Officer

Sarah is a qualified Accounting Technician and joined theWOMEN'STEC team as a part time Finance Assistant in March 2007. She organises the payment of bills, staff salaries, raise invoices; maintains financial records for the various projects WOMEN'STEC runs and submits claims to their funders.

Patricia Fleming

Patricia Fleming
Project Co-ordinator

In 1999, Patricia graduated with an honours degree in Communication, Advertising and Marketing and worked for a business consultancy firm before taking up employment at theWOMEN'STEC in May 2000

Patricia has managed the 'Girl Power' project for the last 5 years. This involved the delivery of non-traditional training to 14-16 year old girls. In recent weeks Patricia has embarked on a new project SPTP (Sharing Places Trading Places). This project is for one year and offers a package of training and development to 16-30 year olds living in the North Belfast area.

Patricia is also responsible for quality assurance for all OCNNI course. This is an ongoing process which involves putting standards and practices in place that will ensure consistency and fairness for all WOMEN'STEC students

Helen Crickard

Helen Crickard
Project Manager

Helen qualified from the newly named Belfast Metropolitan College in 1991 with a City and Guilds Advanced Craft in Carpentry and Joinery. She went straight into self-employment and set up an independent workshop space for artists and craftspeople. Helen has worked all over Belfast at various sites and carried out a lot of work in her workshop with her partner using mainly recycled materials or locally fallen trees.

Helen first became involved in WOMEN'STEC as a tutor delivering the joinery programme and is currently employed full time as the Project Manager for "GUTS project". (Gearing women Up for the Trades Sector),

This project takes Helen all over Northern Ireland, working with many women's centres and FE colleges, she also liaises with potential employers, funders, voluntary organisations and is also involved with the construction skills councils and sits on various committees representing WOMEN'STEC.

Helen also takes an active role as a board member for theTRADESWOMEN NI - the newly formed trading arm of WOMEN'STEC.

Kim McGregor

Kim McGregor
Project Manager

Kim began training at the WOMEN'STEC on a Systems Management Course. She continued studying and completed various courses acquiring the following qualifications; MOS Master, CompTIA A+ Certified Technician, JEB Teaching Diploma, ECDL Test Centre Training, BTEC Award - Computer Hardware, BTEC Award - Networking and the ECDL Advanced Certificate.

She now job shares the Project Managers position for the Social Enterprise Business TRADESWOMEN NI at theWOMEN'STEC and delivers a variety of I.T. courses including ECDL, Digital Devices and Web Design.

Patricia Fleming

Louise Anson
Project Manager

Louise started her non-traditional training with her father growing up on a farm in New Zealand. In 1990 she started her official training with Southwark Women's Workshop in London and continued over the next 6 years furthering her practical training and gaining trade qualifications in carpentry and joinery.

Furniture Making is her passion and for 5 years Louise thoroughly enjoyed working at Universal College of Learning as a lecturers assistant on a Furniture Making/Designing program. She moved to this side of the world in 2003 and worked for 3 years as a Project Manager for an interior design/kitchen company. In 2006 she became a part time tutor at the WOMEN'STEC delivering training in Joinery and Furniture Making.

Louise now job shares the Project Managers position for the Social Enterprise Business at the WOMEN'STEC.

Arlene Johnston

Arlene Johnston
Project Manager

Arlene joined the staff as the ICT Project Manager in April 2006, but her involvement with WOMEN'STEC began in November 2000 when she enrolled on one of the first Systems Management courses, prior to this Arlene had worked for a long time in banking.

Much studying at WOMEN'STEC led to professional certification as a PC technician, a JEB Teacher Training Certificate, a Microsoft Master Certification, ECDL Test Centre Training and Network training, leading to a very enjoyable time tutoring at WOMEN'STEC encouraging others and putting something back.

Arlene is now involved in the management and implementation of the WISE (Women into Systems and Employment) project where she schedules and coordinates the courses, maintains the company networks and develops new training materials. Arlene is also responsible for quality assurance for all ECDL and Microsoft courses. This is an ongoing process which involves updating policies and procedures ensuring fairness and consistency for allWOMEN'STEC students She also liaises with other centres, potential employers, funders, voluntary organisations and the general public promoting the WOMEN'STEC.

Stella Morris

Stella Morris
Horticulture Tutor

Stella has an Amenity Horticulture qualification which she acquired by returning to college part time at night, and during the day working with Belfast Parks & Council.

During her training Stella was surprised to find that there were so few female horticulturists working in Belfast parks! Since then she has designed a course to deliver at theWOMEN'STEC. She also has the option to become self employed through the WOMEN'STEC Trade directory.

Stella is at present studying part time for a degree in Humanities at Queens University.

Jackie Hamilton

Jackie Hamilton
Non-Traditional Tutor

Jackie's qualifications inlcude a City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Plumbing and a BTEC Higher National Certificate in Electronic Engineering. She has worked for both Wolverhampton and Newcastle Upon Tyne city councils as a supervisor, training young women in non-traditional skills. She has also been self-employed running a successful small business.

In 1985 after completing City and Guilds Level 3 in the requirements for Electrical Installations and City and Guilds Level 3 in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations, Jackie made a decision to return home to Ireland.

She is now a non-traditional tutor at theWOMEN'STEC delivering training in plumbing and electrics.

Jacquie Garland

Jacquie Garland
IT Tutor

Jacquie worked in the GPO for six years, she left to start a family and a year after having her first son, she returned to train with the Women's Centre. Here Jacquie completed CLAIT I & II and Word Processing I, II & III.

Jacquie then returned to Further Education and acquired more qualifications; an Advanced Diploma in I.T & Business and also a JEB Teacher Training Certificate in I.T. After she graduated she felt compelled to put something back into the community, so for a year she worked voluntarily for community groups until the position came up at the WOMEN'STEC as an I.T Tutor.

Claire Lawson

Non-Traditional Tutor

Claire has been a Mosaic and Special Paint.Effects Tutor for the last 4 years. She is based at the Island Arts Centre, Lisburn where she set up Red Apple Arts with Ngaire Jackson in 2001. Red Apple Arts is an independent arts organization that organises and facilitates workshops and undertakes public art commissions across Northern Ireland.

Claire has been delivering courses in Mosaics and Special Paint Effects for the WOMEN'STEC since September 2003.

Hilary Crothers

 

Hilary Crothers
Non-Traditional Tutor

Hilary joined the WOMEN'STEC in 1997 as part of the apprenticeship scheme, training in electronic engineering. She completed this training in 1999, gaining NVQs and City & Guilds as well as various other certifications such as the Community Tutor course (OCN).

In 1999 through the WOMEN'STEC Hilary had built up the skills and the confidence to begin tutoring as well as continuing her own training. During the last few years she has gained additional qualifications in PC Servicing (A+) and City & Guilds Electrical Installation. Hilary continues to deliver courses for the WOMEN'STEC which include a Basic Electrical course, the A+ PC Technician course and Digital Devices.

Amber McGregor

Amber McGregor
Part-time Receptionist

Amber is working at the WOMEN'STEC as a part-time receptionist over the Summer holidays. She was in need of work experience and WOMEN'STEC like to support young people as much as possible. Amber is currently at school studying for her GCSE's and has completed an ECDL course atWOMEN'STEC giving her valuable computer knowledge which she can use in her work.
