Anne McVicker

Anne McVicker
Chief Executive

Anne has been Chief Executive of WOMEN'STEC since 1999.

She has worked extensively within a wide range of Women's and Community Sector organisations and networks across NI, building capacity, community relations and promoting good practice within an overall Equality agenda . Anne has played lead roles within the Belfast Local Strategic Partnership Board, North Belfast Partnership Board, and the Programme Management Executive of Urban II initiative.

Anne's innovative work has proved path-breaking within the field of Training and Education for women, especially within the non-traditional sector. WOMEN'STEC has achieved the Quality Mark - Investors in People and is ISO9001 Quality Management Systems registered. The organisation is currently establishing regional, national and European Partnerships.

Sarah Greene

Sarah Greene
Finance Officer

Sarah is a qualified Accounting Technician and joined theWOMEN'STEC team as a part time Finance Assistant in March 2007. She organises the payment of bills, staff salaries, raise invoices; maintains financial records for the various projects WOMEN'STEC runs and submits claims to their funders.

Patricia Fleming

Patricia Fleming
Project Co-ordinator

In 1999, Patricia graduated with an honours degree in Communication, Advertising and Marketing and worked for a business consultancy firm before taking up employment at the WOMEN'STEC in May 2000.

Patricia has successfully managed a number of projects including the 'Girl Power' project for 5 years and 'Sharing Places Trading Places'.

At present Patricia manages two projects, 'Building Positive Relations' (BPR)and 'Bits and Pieces' (BAPS).

  • BPR is a two year programme aimed at women with an interest in Reconciliation and Politics.
  • BAPS is a one year programme designed to bring local women together to explore similarities, difference, culture, religion, and experiences.

Patricia is also responsible for quality assurance for all OCNNI courses. This is an ongoing process which involves putting standards and practices in place that will ensure consistency and fairness for all WOMEN'STEC students.

Helen Crickard

Helen Crickard
Project Manager

Helen qualified from the newly named Belfast Metropolitan College in 1991 with a City and Guilds Advanced Craft in Carpentry and Joinery. She went straight into self-employment and set up an independent workshop space for artists and craftspeople. Helen has worked all over Belfast at various sites and carried out a lot of work in her workshop with her partner using mainly recycled materials or locally fallen trees.

Helen first became involved in WOMEN'STEC as a tutor delivering the joinery programme and is currently employed full time as the Project Manager for "GUTS project". (Gearing women Up for the Trades Sector),

This project takes Helen all over Northern Ireland, working with many women's centres and FE colleges, she also liaises with potential employers, funders, voluntary organisations and is also involved with the construction skills councils and sits on various committees representing WOMEN'STEC.

Arlene Johnston

Arlene Johnston
Project Manager

Arlene joined the staff as the ICT Project Manager in April 2006, but her involvement with WOMEN'STEC began in November 2000 when she enrolled on one of the first Systems Management courses, prior to this Arlene had worked for a long time in banking.

Much studying at WOMEN'STEC led to professional certification as a PC technician, a JEB Teacher Training Certificate, a Microsoft Master Certification, ECDL Test Centre Training and Network training, leading to a very enjoyable time tutoring at WOMEN'STEC encouraging others and putting something back.

Arlene is now involved in the management and implementation of the WISE (Women into Systems and Employment) project where she schedules and coordinates the courses, maintains the company networks and develops new training materials. Arlene is also responsible for quality assurance for all ECDL and Microsoft courses. This is an ongoing process which involves updating policies and procedures ensuring fairness and consistency for allWOMEN'STEC students She also liaises with other centres, potential employers, funders, voluntary organisations and the general public promoting the WOMEN'STEC.

Patricia Fleming

Louise Anson
Non-traditional Tutor

Louise started her non-traditional training with her father growing up on a farm in New Zealand. In 1990 she started her official training with Southwark Women's Workshop in London and continued over the next 6 years furthering her practical training and gaining trade qualifications in carpentry and joinery.

Furniture Making is her passion and for 5 years Louise thoroughly enjoyed working at Universal College of Learning as a lecturers assistant on a Furniture Making/Designing program. She moved to this side of the world in 2003 and worked for 3 years as a Project Manager for an interior design/kitchen company. In 2006 she became a part time tutor at the WOMEN'STEC delivering training in Joinery and Furniture Making.

Kim McGregor

Kim McGregor
IT Tutor

Kim began training at the WOMEN'STEC on a Systems Management Course. She continued studying and completed various courses acquiring the following qualifications; MOS Master, CompTIA A+ Certified Technician, JEB Teaching Diploma, ECDL Test Centre Training, BTEC Award - Computer Hardware, BTEC Award - Networking and the ECDL Advanced Certificate.

She now delivers a variety of I.T. courses including ECDL, CLAIT, Digital Devices and Web Design.

Anna Collins

Anna Collins
Non-Traditional Tutor

Anna is a talented ceramic jewellery designer specialising in bespoke handmade designs.

She has a BTEC Diploma in Foundation studies in Art & Design and a HND in Design Communications.

Anna joined the WOMEN'STEC in 2008 after spending 7 ½ years working in St Malachys College, specialising in ceramics.

She recently trained in tiling and is currently delivering the Wall & Floor tilling Course at the WOMEN'STEC

Jackie Hamilton

Jackie Hamilton
Non-Traditional Tutor

Jackie's qualifications inlcude a City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Plumbing and a BTEC Higher National Certificate in Electronic Engineering. She has worked for both Wolverhampton and Newcastle Upon Tyne city councils as a supervisor, training young women in non-traditional skills. She has also been self-employed running a successful small business.

In 1985 after completing City and Guilds Level 3 in the requirements for Electrical Installations and City and Guilds Level 3 in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations, Jackie made a decision to return home to Ireland.

She is now a non-traditional tutor at theWOMEN'STEC delivering training in plumbing and electrics.

Angela Harper

Angela Harper
Non-Traditional Tutor

Angela was going through a difficult divorce with 3 young children and living in a Women's Aid refuge, when she first came to WOMEN'STEC eight years ago to join a Joinery class. This gave Angela the confidence she needed to change her life and she decided to train in NVQ 2 Joinery at BIFHE. With the support of WOMEN'STEC she excelled and went on to achieve NVQ Level 3 and was the only female (40 males) to graduate from the Trades in June 2008 at the now Belfast Met. Angela has continued to train and in turn trains other females in her specialism.

Claire Lawson

Non-Traditional Tutor

Claire has been a Mosaic and Special Paint.Effects Tutor for the last 4 years. She is based at the Island Arts Centre, Lisburn where she set up Red Apple Arts with Ngaire Jackson in 2001. Red Apple Arts is an independent arts organization that organises and facilitates workshops and undertakes public art commissions across Northern Ireland.

Claire has been delivering courses in Mosaics and Special Paint Effects for the WOMEN'STEC since September 2003.

Niamh Muldon

Niamh Muldoon
Full -time Receptionist

My name is Niamh Muldoon and I am employed as Receptionist in WOMEN'STEC.

I first got involved with WOMEN'STEC when still at school and participated in the Girlpower project in summer 2002.
In 2005, I commenced my NVQ 2 Business Administration training at BIFHE while being on work placement with WOMEN'STEC, as well as completing my ECDL.

From 2006 to 2008, I completed my NVQ 2 & 3 in Beauty Therapy at BIFHE while continuing to work part time in WOMEN'STEC and completed further accredited training in Managing an Enterprise NVQ 2, Start up a Business and Web Design.

After a short spell working in Cyprus, I took up my full time receptionist post at WOMEN'STEC in August 2008.

As the first point of contact to our students and visitors, I really enjoy my work and I'm looking forward to the development of our ETC project and the opportunity to develop my skills and professional training.
